On 20-22 April 2012 40 history teachers come together in a beautiful city of Stip (Macedonia), to participate in the Second Capacity Building and Curriculum Assessment Workshop within the EUROCLIO/Belgium Ministry of Foreign Affairs project History that Connects Republic of Macedonia. The workshop aimed to further strengthen the organizational and networking capacity of the Association of History Educators in Macedonia (ANIM). Just like in Ohrid (Macedonia) this was done by group discussions and participants were very eager to share their ideas and experiences to improve the ANIM network and mission.
Mrs Ineke Veldhuis Meester and Mr Semih Aktekin were present as international experts to give insightful and active workshops about sensitive history and multiperspectivity. Observers from the History Teachers Associations in Albania, Bulgaria, Greece and Turkey also shared and discussed the current affairs in History Teaching in their countries with the workshop participants. The Participants send a lot of time pitching new ideas and fine-tuning ideas that the teachers in Ohrid had written down. A few days before the seminar began, EUROCLIO received a letter of support from the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Macedonia. This written support by the Minister of Education of Macedonia, aimed at helping to find solutions for Integrated History Education in Macedonia was viewed as a very positive and a big step forward by all participants.Overall the seminar was very successful and a detailed report will be available online soon.
