In the 26th of April Joke van der Leeuw-Roord (Executive Director EUROCLIO) and Mirjam Zeilmaker (trainee EUROCLIO) gave a workshop about Servant Leadership on the VU Amsterdam. There were some presentations about Servant Leadership in general and in companies before the workshops began.
Instead of talking about an exemplary Servant Leader in history during the workshop, we decided to give a short presentation about EUROCLIO. We explained our mission and aims and some challenges we encounter during our projects. When the participants were informed about this we discussed a case study wherein the participants could actively apply the principles of Servant Leadership in order to get two conflicting parties to discuss their history. The event was concluded after a short panel discussion wherein Joke also participated and a beautiful presentation by Joan Ferrier about her father Dr. Johan Ferrier, a good example of a Servant leader.
